As someone who works as a computer developer herself, I have been stuck at home for almost three weeks now. It’s been a struggle to keep my spirits up continuously while I work from home. We all have been frustrated about not being productive enough. As someone who faced identical issues, I thought it would be nice to share my work from home tips that encouraged me to be better.

Not only the IT sector but because of the worldwide outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, most companies are preferring to work from home. These tips that I am sharing today will hopefully help you be productive while you work from home due to corona.

1: Create A Diverse Schedule For Work And Personal Life

While you work at your home, there is a likelihood that the thresholds might get a little blurry. That is why you need to figure out a perfect routine for working. Figure out a perfect schedule to work from home so you utilize enough hours of the day. It’s important to focus on official tasks during work hours.

While you are working, try not to let the household chores or family distract you. But at the same time, don’t try to work while you are supposed to be spending time with your loved ones. Let people around you know that you are indeed working from home and set up a time when you are free to talk or to message them.

2: Take Small Breaks In Between To Refresh Yourself

While you are working in the office, you might have a time decided when you go out for a coffee or a chai break with colleagues. Or you might have a dedicated lunchtime. Just like that, just because you are working at home, don’t forget to take these small breaks.

Set up a call during the designated times with colleagues just like you do at the office. Talk about random things other than work and refresh yourself. This will help you regain your energy and work the best you can during “office hours”.

3: Set Up A Different Place For You To Work

Be it your comfortable bed in your bedroom or a place in your balcony, it’s important to have a good place to sit and work. Keep in mind that this place should be good enough for you to sit and work for 8+ hours. It should be comfortable with enough space to stretch your body.

Having a separate place to work enables you to feel the difference between home and office. It helps you get in the mindset that you are supposed to be working. This is one of the most crucial work from home tips in my opinion because it helps you get in the work mentality.

You don’t have to have a separate area for your office. Just somewhere, even if it is a small corner, where you can sit and be completely disconnected from the rest of the world for a while.

4: Stay As Connected To Your Colleagues As Possible

Social distancing has been made compulsory due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This is why the correct use of technology is necessary more than any other times. While my advice is to stay away from social media while you work, it is absolutely okay to talk to your office friends once in a while.

Don’t hesitate to ask them your doubts so you can solve them. Let your senior authority know if you are facing any kind of challenges that are stopping you from working productively. Keep talking to your teammates to check on the progress of the entire team. These small things can help you get in the right mood to work and be in sync with the rest of your team.

5: Exercise And Get Used A Healthy Lifestyle

The coronavirus is majorly affecting the people with low immunity. Work from home can be a major issue because it can cause a lot of health issues as well. Which is why exercising a lot every day is suggested by many doctors.

Eat homemade healthy food with lots of different vitamins and minerals. Dedicate at least 30-40 minutes to exercise before you start working. Even during the work hours, try to do simple exercises for your hands, legs and neck. This will help you be in good physical and mental condition. Ultimately, this will help you be way more productive during work.

6: Keep Fixed Hours For Work And Stick To Them

It is possible to be a little lazy while you work. To avoid that, you need to set up a clear schedule. Decide on the time you will start working and time when you will stop. And follow these timelines strictly!!

Overworking might affect your physical health and make it harder to work better. That is why prepare a perfect schedule that works for you and then follows it strictly.
